Overview

Mt. Amadablam Expeditions one of the most glorious and beautiful peaks in all Himalaya region, at the height of 6,814 m and 22,355 ft that soars high into blue skyline of scenic Khumbu valley within Everest region.

Mt. Amadablam Expeditions one of the least climbed peaks in early days, but since last past decades attracting more keen and interested climbers to reach the summit of magnificent Amadablam.

Amadablam name comes from Tibetan origin where native Sherpa language is similar which means Ama for Mother and Dablam a Jewel Box, A Mother attached with Jewel Box, which you can notice on walks before reaching its base camp with huge chunk of ice attached on the neck of Amadablam near to its summit.

Mt. Amadablam Expeditions begins after reaching at Lukla, a popular Sherpa town with unique airstrip called as Tenzing and Hillary Airport tribute to legendry mountaineers the first conqueror of Mt. Everest.

From here on scenic road past many Sherpa villages with well tended farm terraces following Dudh Kosi River valley and with winding uphill to famous Namche Bazaar for rest and hike to support acclimatization.

After Namche on wide path facing marvelous scenery of green hills, snow peaks as walk lead to steep climb within serene forested area of tall rhododendron, oaks, magnolia, pines, juniper and firs trees.

On reaching beautiful spot at Tengboche enjoy incredible panorama of mountain range with Mt. Everest and Amadablam at close beautiful distance, a great spot with impressive monastery for tour and witness cultures enriched with Buddhism religion.

Enjoying time at Tengboche with overnight in the last main village of Pangboche then towards our major highlight reaching at the base of towering majestic Mt. Amadablam, with ample days for preparation and then last final day at base camp moves you to higher camps with great effort and adventure to reach on the summit of Amadablam.

Mind-blowing scenery to enjoy from the top with world highest peaks that encircles you on the summit of Amadablam with views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lhotse Shar, Cho-Oyu, Pumori as far towards Baruntse and Makalu peaks.

Slowly our great adventure comes to an end after great marvelous climb with downhill back to Namche and then at Lukla for short scenic flight to reach within hustle and bustle city life in Kathmandu, with tons of memories to take back home after a great high experience on Mt. Amadablam Expeditions

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu and at Nepal international airport, received by our Trail Himalaya staff and representative or guide, for short transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city around Thamel. Thamel the an interesting and exciting area of the city, after checking into your rooms, then join at the lobby for group briefing provides you with trek and climb includes other necessary information. Include group welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese authentic restaurant with local culture of folk musical program to entertain along with dinner.

Day 02

Morning tour around Kathmandu at places of interest.

At Kathmandu, morning having breakfast then getting busy with preparation for Mt. Amadablam Expeditions, with paper works and obtaining permits for the climb with last minute buying or checking gears and packing.

Day 03

Fly to Lukla 2,820 m - 30 mins and walk to Phakding 2,610 m - 04 hrs.

Leaving your hotel in Kathmandu for short drive to Kathmandu domestic airport where short flight in a smaller aircraft reaches you at Lukla. Lukla located at 2,820 m with views of Naulekh Himal and Kongde peaks, a Sherpa town with unique airstrip named as Tenzing and Hillary airport in tribute to late conqueror of Mt. Everest. From Lukla walk starts on easy gradual path heading through nice Sherpa farm villages to reach first overnight stop within Khumbu at Phakding village close to Dudh Kosi River.

Day 04

Trek to famous Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

From Phakding morning on nice pleasant slow climb crossing bridge to reach at lovely village of Monjo facing views of Tharmarserku peak, then enter Sagarmatha National Park. Sagarmatha a name in Nepalese for Everest while Sherpa calls Chomolungma, as walk takes you to last village of Jorsalle before Namche Bazaar, walking around river bed with short climb to cross the high bridge. After the bridge with climb on winding path within forested surroundings of pines, firs, oaks and rhododendron trees as route leads into famous Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.

Day 05

At Namche for acclimatization and short scenic hikes.

Namche a famous large village nearly size of a town an important spot for Khumbu Sherpa as well for trekkers, where one can find nearly all types of facilities from banks, post-office, nice lodge and hotels with many restaurants and bakeries including Pubs and Bar to enjoy on the way back. Namche holds busy colorful market once a week on Saturday, an interesting bazaar to observe local custom and cultures of Khumbu Sherpa native. Places to visit on rest day at Namche Bazaar: Short walks to National Park museum an interesting place on top of Namche Bazaar, where you can catch views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Amadablam with series of peaks. Everest View Hotel, a climb of an hour to Syangboche and then easy uphill to the highest deluxe hotel of Khumbu at 3,880 m rewards grand views of Mt. Everest and range of peaks in serene environment. Khumjung and Khunde Village located on a glacial valley different to Namche, with traditional life style houses and to witness Sherpa lively custom and culture. Visit Khumjung old monastery the only place believed to be of Yeti scalps, visit Khunde and the hospital built by Hillary Foundation.

Day 06

Trek to Tengboche Monastery 3,867 m - 05 hrs.

Spending pleasant and exciting time at Namche morning walk heads east on wide scenic trail with views of Everest and range of high peaks, as walk continue downhill to a small place Phunge-Tenga for short break or lunch stop. Afternoon climb leads for few hours within lovely cool rhododendron, pine and fir tree forest to reach Tengboche, a famous spot for marvelous panorama of mountains that surrounds with views of Everest. Tengboche with famous, interesting monastery with time here to visit the monastery where you can witness impressive Buddhism religion of colorful culture, here once a year in the month of October or early November a great colorful festival held called Mani-Rimdu.

Day 07

Trek to Pangboche 3,900 m - 03 hrs.

From Tengboche today a short walk to next last village of Khumbu at Pangboche morning enjoy great mountains views walk downhill to reach a bridge over Imjatse River, after crossing walk takes you with slow climb within dry area, as tree lines drops for few short juniper and rhododendron bush, short uphill to reach Pangboche village at 3,900 m. Pangboche, last permanent village towards on the way to Mt. Everest and Amadablam base camp, with overnight in the comfort of nice lodge, then on camping on route Amadablam for the climb. Afternoon rest or take a hike to upper Pangboche village with an old interesting monastery for short tour with glorious views of Amadablam at near distance with other range of peaks with tip of Mt. Everest.

Day 08

Trek to Amadablam base camp 4,600m - 04 hrs.

Morning on the way to our major target and highlight, from Pangboche short descend to Imjatse River and crossing a small wooden plank bridge, then head for steep climb for an hour or more to reach ridge within wide Yak pasture area, and then pleasant walk takes you with short slow climb to reach wide open field right beneath towering Mt. Amadablam at base camp.

Day 09

At Amadablam base camp for rest and short hike for acclimatization.

Another necessary rest day at base camp, offers excellent views of Everest, Pumori with array of peaks that surrounds the base camp, with ample time preparations for the climb and enjoy short hike and explore around this remote and on less visited region of high Khumbu valley on off the beaten trails.

Preparation for the climb at base camp.

Today getting busy with final preparation for the climb where camp and climbing gear loads needs ferrying to next high camps loaded, carried by our high altitude and strong porters and guides, as well members of the climbing team. Shifting equipments and camping stuff to high camp, will be a good exercise on high altitude to get acclimatize and getting in with the high altitude

Day 11

Trek, climb to high Camp 5,210 m afternoon preparations, practice climb.

Morning leave base camp heading towards end of the high wide valley getting close to Mingbo-la, a hidden pass close to Amadablam from Hinko valley. On reaching High Camp establish high or advance camp at the height of 5,210 m high right at the bottom of Amadablam South-West Face, with time for full climbing preparation .

Day 12 to 23

(12 days) Ascent Mt. Amadablam summit and withdrawal to Base Camp.

Allocated full Ten Days from the High Camp to reach the summit of majestic Mt. Amadablam, during these days more of a week busy separating gears, checking equipments for final bid to the summit of Amadablam. After ferrying load to other high camps, and from base camp or high camp depending upon fine weather then head on for the climb, a great and tough mountain to climb of high technical difficulties to encounter in some sections of the climb. Where team will be divided into groups working on routes for the climb and then return back to Base Camp for proper rest and acclimatization, where one group will go ahead and fixing ropes with another carrying loads up to high camps and setting designated camps for the last haul to the summit top. Some history shows that Mr. Ray Delaney used the South West ridge of Amadablam with Joe Simpson in April 1990 since then this route has been quite popular and safe for the climb. Climb leads to walk on grassy moraine and ridges heading east to a broad saddle facing views of Mingbo-La and then towards north to climb a rocky section and past over a ridge of boulders beneath Pt.5, 705 to set camp I, with 4-5 tents space platforms. From Camp I: Cross a rocky bowl (can be tricky in heavy snow) until below two rock fingers, then move on to a ridge proper. Climbing the ridge involves rock climbing of severe standard with steps of VS (USA 5.6) Camp II is at the top yellow tower, which gives one of the hardest pitches on the climb at VS/Hard VS (5.8). From Camp II: Skirt a red rock bluff on the east and follow a ramp line to a gray tower. Move into the ramp (some stone fall danger) and climb to an amphitheater, as climb continue up a broad gully on between the gray tower and the lower rock buttress and climb a snow slope to ' Santa's Grotto' at the start of Mushroom ridge. Final climb on snow and Ice slopes towards right following mixed area to reach on top of high hanging glacier, an ice crest that leads to a marvelous position all the way to the summit of Amadablam offering grand panorama of surrounding highest mountain range includes Mt. Everest towards north, after a great hard struggle and exciting climb to the top descend back safely to base camp using Advance Camp on-route.

Day 24

Clean-up day the base camp and packing for return journey.

After a great climb and adventure to the top summit of Amadablam feeling in high spirit then at base camp days is reserved for cleaning the camp to collect garbage and packing, we are fully committed and hold great responsible to keep our environment in is pristine form, protecting and reducing pollution.

Trek to Tengboche past Pangboche village - 05 hrs.

Morning downhill to Imjatse River cross over a bridge, with steep short climb to reach at Pangboche, then descend on the same route to a river with climb to Tengboche reaching back into green vegetation and tree lines with overnight stop at scenic Thyangboche in the comfort of nice lodge.

Trek to Namche Bazaar - 05 hrs walks.

From Tengboche completing our adventurous climb morning takes you on same route, with more time to enjoy views of mountains with another short visit to the monastery located within green woodland and mountain views. Morning on downhill to a river with short up to reach a near level path to reach at Namche Bazaar, on walk enjoy views of Everest and Amadablam with other peaks till Namche is reached for overnight stop after a pleasant walk of short ups and downs.

Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.

Last day walk of our adventure, as morning starts with long descend to reach Dudh Kosi River and at Sagarmatha National Park near Monjo village, from here walk and cross a long bridge to Phakding. From Phakding head towards Lukla where route lead with up and downs with last final climb of short hour to reach Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest region.

Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Morning catch early morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla facing grand panorama of Himalayan range of peaks with Mt. Everest, soon landing at Kathmandu airport and then transfer to your respective hotels, with afternoon free to enjoy your own personal activities and shopping.

Day 29

In Kathmandu as reserve and contingency day.

In Kathmandu reserve as free or contingency day in case of flight delay might lead to cancellation sometimes, due to unfavorable and bad weather condition which can happen before flying to Lukla or on the way back. On this day enjoy rest and explore places of interest around Kathmandu when all things go well according to our standard planned itinerary days.

Day 30

Final departure.

Enjoying marvelous time around high hills and mountains of Nepal Mid East Himalaya, last day in Nepal after a great adventure and experience on Mt. Amadablam Expeditions and climb, as time for your international flight depart from the hotel, where Trail Himalaya Adventure staff transfer you to the airport for your flight homeward bound or to respective countries
