Overview
Khopra Ridge Trek is located within the great Himalaya range of Annapurna and close to Dhaulagiri mountains separated by deep gorge and river valley of Kaligandaki in between two world’s highest mountains.
Quite different leads you on special routes to Khopra Ridge Trekking as the area often visited by few groups of trekkers due to its complete isolation from the mainstream trails of Ghorepani and other Annapurna popular trekking routes.
Khopra Ridge Trek Outline
Starts on the same scenic trails from beautiful Pokhara city to reach high mid hills of Annapurna within lovely cool forest of tall rhododendron and pine tree lines to reach at Ghorepani village populated by Poon / Magar hill tribes of Western Nepal.
Ghorepani a famous and popular village being close at the base of scenic Poon Hill, where hour hike reaches you on top for striking sunrise over array of Himalayan peaks with Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu range includes magnificent Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ peak.
From Ghorepani where walk leads away from main trail to reach at high Khopra ridge leaving the popular route for perfect wilderness of high mountains and walking up into cool dense forest to reach on top at Khopra ridge.
At the top above 3,865 m, the highest point of the adventure (beside Khayar Lake at 4,247 m) where you can marvel great beauty with closest views of Dhaulagiri its massive ice-falls with Annapurna and Vara Shikar peak (Annapurna Fang) and near towards the peak of Annapurna South.
At Khopra Ridge with spare and free to enjoy beautiful views and options for day hike to Khayar Lake regarded as holy spot for Hindu followers, a full day strong hike of 6 hrs both ways.
Marvelous moments at Khopra Ridge with stunning panorama of mountains where return journey takes you on alternative and scenic trail heading into deep woodland to reach at large Gurung village in Ghandruk.

March to May best time when days are fine and clear for views and walks.
Can get cloudy late afternoon with chances of light showers can expect snow on higher hills sometimes, cold in the morning and night times.
March to May when wild flowers are in seasonal bloom with rhododendron and other plants in full bloom.
Mid September to November another best months during autumn / fall times where days are clear for views and walks but with short sunlight hours freezing temperatures during morning and night time could snow sometimes on higher areas on walks.
People and Culture
Khopra Ridge Trekking where one can witness various hill tribes, lower warm area mixed tribes of Gurung-Magar with Hindu Bharamins, Chettries and Dalits with fascinating traditional farm life and cultures.
Higher hills dominated by Poon people of Magar tribes around Ulleri to Ghorepani villages practice both Hindu and Buddhism religion of various interesting culture and custom.
Other main tribes are Gurung hill people of Annapurna region where one can observe Gurung traditional culture from Tadapani and Ghandruk villages interwoven with Buddhism religion, also practice ancient Bon a pre Buddhist sect worshipping nature spirits and earth main five elements.
