Gokyo Lake to Everest Base Camp & High Cho-La Pass Trek with Trail Himalaya offers two different treks of Khumbu and Everest areas into one adventure package where you can experience an awesome panorama of the massive world’s highest mountains from high Gokyo-Ri and Kalapathar top.
This marvelous adventure trip leads you to beautiful Gokyo Valley and its simmering emerald-colored lakes with grand views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu peaks from Gokyo-Ri and then crosses high Chola Pass towards our final destination at Everest base camp.
Gokyo Lake to Everest Base Camp & High Chola Pass Trek heads towards Lukla by air with exciting panoramic views of the Himalayan chain of peaks till it lands at Lukla, where our walk commences heading to the famous Namche Bazaar past lovely traditional villages of Phakding and Monjo leaving behind Dudh Kosi River.
At Namche with rest days and a short hike to a viewpoint overlooking fabulous scenery with Mt. Everest-Lhotse and the majestic peak of Ama Dablam, we move towards a quieter route to reach high frozen lakes at Gokyo.
After spending a great time at Gokyo with grand views crossing over Chola to Everest base camp and on top of Kalapathar for a sweeping panorama of Mt. Everest at close distance with other adjoining peaks that surrounds, we walk back to Lukla for the flight to come back to Kathmandu.
On reaching Kathmandu from Lukla with a short scenic flight, where our wonderful and memorable adventure from Gokyo Lake to Everest Base Camp & High Cho-La Pass Trekking concludes.
This trip is a suitable alternative to 14 Days Everest base camp trek as it reaches the incredible Gokyo valley and crosses Chola pass 5420 m.
Arrival in Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, received by our guide and staff for transfer to your hotel in heart of Kathmandu city around Thamel, a great interesting areas.
After checking into your hotel rooms then meet our guide / leader and other members of the group for briefing regarding trekking and related information required in Nepal with Trail Himalaya.
Day 02
Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,641 m - 04 hrs walks.
Morning as per the group size either on tourist coach or in private chartered vehicles for short drive to Kathmandu domestic airport for scenic short flight to Lukla. On reaching Lukla after 35 minutes of exciting flights few hours of first day walk to overnight stop at Phakding village.
Walk downhill with short ups past several Sherpa villages and into alpine woodland with tall trees of Rhododendron, pine and oaks to reach near Dudh-Kosi River in Phakding.
Day 03
Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.
Today a long climb to reach Sherpa large village nearly a town at Namche Bazaar, starting with gradual walk following Dudh Kosi river upstream crossing few bridges to enter into Sagarmatha National Park entrance near Monjo village.(Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese and Sherpa calls Chomolungma in both languages means ‘Great Mother’).
From here pleasant walk on river bed leading to a climb for few hours into forested areas with views of snow capped peaks, as our walk reaches you at Namche Bazaar.
Day 04
Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
A free day and rest at Namche Bazaar important and necessary for acclimatization at this high altitude above 3,440 m high, before heading higher areas.
At Namche spend your day with scenic hike around and explore the streets of Namche Bazaar with full of shops, stores and many good restaurants with bakeries.
Namche holds a colorful and busy Saturday Market once a week, suggested walk to Everest View Hotel or on top Namche Hill for excellent views of Everest, Ama-Dablam and other adjoining peaks with visit its nice museum full of information of the Everest and Khumbu areas.
Day 05
Trek to Dole 4,110m - 06 hrs.
From here onward to Gokyo Lakes, first hour walk on winding path to Kyangima near Shanasa, here and around chances of spotting some wildlife colorful Danphe pheasant (Impeyan Pheasant) and musk deer, including Himalayan Thar (mountain goat).
From here our trails leads north with climb to high Mong Hill above 3,973 m, from here descends to series of switchbacks reaching Phortse Thanghka, and from here uphill to Dole within rhododendron forest then fades to juniper and conifers trees.
Day 06
Trek to Machherma 4,470m - 04 hrs.
After Dole, walk on valley trail for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325 m and Luza at 4,390m; then skirting around a ridge line with glimpse of Machherma, located below a small valley, then downhill to Machherma for lunch and overnight stop, afternoon free for acclimatization and short hike with views of Mt. Cho Oyo 8,210m and other mountains flanking above Ngozumba Glacier.
Day 07
Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs.
Morning walk leads to Gokyo Lake following a scenic trail to Pangka 4,545m, then climb on rocky path into ablation valley passing first lake and then second lakes, to reach a third lake called Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake.
This beautiful area within Gokyo at 4,790 meters high, after lunch short walk around lake with views of Mt. Cho Oyo.
Day 08
Day 8: At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357m and trek to Thagnak 4,750m - 04 hrs.
Morning hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357m, offers panorama of world’s highest peaks from Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east rises Mt. Makalu. After a mesmerizing time at Gokyo Ri and then descend to Gokyo for lunch and then short walk to Thagnak beneath Ngozumba Glacier with rest of the afternoon free at leisure to enjoy the surrounding views.
Day 09
Cross Cho-la 5,367m and trek to Dzongla 4,830 m -07 hrs.
Starting before dawn with long climb to top of Cho-la pass over rocky moraine, in snow condition this will be tough to find the right path in snow and ice, walking on rubble of moraine reaching at the top enclosed by Cholatse, Nirekha and Taboche peaks, after a hard climb to the top, descend to a small valley at Dzong-la for overnight halt.
Day 10
Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.
After a nice and pleasant stop at Dzongla morning walk leads to a short steep climb with excellent views of peaks, and then walking on gradual uphill trail to reach at Lobuche for overnight stop, where you can and view massive Khumbu glacier.
Day 11
Trek to Everest Base Camp 5364 m and return to Gorakshep 5,180 m - 06 hrs.
Today our adventure takes you at Everest Base Camp our main goal and highlight of the trip walking for few hours with short steep climb in between glacier and moraine, then reaching at Gorakshep, beneath lofty peak of Pumori and Kalapathar rocky hill.
Walk continues towards Everest base camp, at base camp enjoy views of massive Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after an exciting time with experience of a lifetime retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for overnight stop
Day 12
Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pangboche 3,900 m - 06 hrs.
Early morning climb to the top of Kalapathar rocky hill at an altitude above 5,545 m, highest point of the adventure with fantastic panorama of mountains facing Mt. Everest at close distance.
After a great moment with excellent views descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk to Thugla, from here downhill to Pheriche around windy valley with nice scenic walk to reach at Pangboche village for overnight stop, which is an hour distance from Pheriche.
Day 13
Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.
Walk leads on the same route from Pangboche onward to reach scenic Thyangboche Monastery, allowing you with more time on this beautiful spot for more views, from Thyangboche walk downhill to a river with uphill for an hour, and then with nice pleasant walk back to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.
Day 14
Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.
From Namche our last day walk of the adventure leads to a long descend on same route
towards Sagarmatha National Park entrance to reach at Monjo village, from here on gentle
gradual trail crossing bridges to reach Phakding.
From Phakding on the way to Lukla with few ups and downhill with last and final climb of an hour to Lukla for last overnight stop around Everest and Khumbu region.
Day 15
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and rest, Farewell Dinner.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, first, you will be transferred to the hotel. Now, you are free to do whatever you prefer, take rest, go for souvenir shopping, go for a short sightseeing tour, etc. Better you discuss with your guide so that he can guide you accordingly. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner program for you. We hope, during our dinner, we will have a very happy and interactive session to share your experiences, views and feedbacks.
Day 16
International departure home ward bound.
Last day in Nepal and with Trail Himalaya, with your time for international flight back to your respective countries, our staff and guide transfers you to airport after a great experience on Everest Base Camp & High Khumbu Valley Trekking.
