FAQs

General

Who can go on an EBC trek?

Although there is no age limit for Everest Base Camp trekking, it is better to be more careful if one is 65 or 70 years old. This doesn’t mean if you are above 65 years old you cannot do it. You can definitely do it! However, it would be wise to take a full medical checkup and check your stamina level before coming to any conclusion. It’s always a good idea to assess your fitness level. As of records, people as young as seven years old and as old as 70 years old have completed EBC trek successfully.

What is the best season to go on an EBC trek?

The best season to go on a Everest Base Camp Trek is generally Spring or Autumn. Spring, considered  one of the busiest trekking seasons, has moderate temperatures, you can witness blooming rhododendron forests, amazing landscapes and the weather is usually very pleasant in the daytime, ranging from around 10°C to 20°C at lower altitudes. However the temperature drops below freezing at higher elevations generally during night and early morning.

Autumn is another popular season for EBC trekking. As the weather is very clear and stable, you can explore the enriched Sherpa culture, magnificent mountains, impressive glaciers, high altitude landscape, of the Himalayas with the exotic flora and fauna and snow capped mountains during this period. You can enjoy breathtaking views of Himalayas including Mount Everest.

Even though people trek to EBC the entire year, Spring and Autumn seasons are two more preferable times for trekking. It largely depends on personal preferences.

What is the age limit for signing up for this trek?

There is no age limit for signing up for EBC trek. All you need is an average fitness level and a lot of enthusiasm and you are all set to go! However if you are 10 years and younger or 70 years and older, we suggest you approach our team for further inquiry.

Is there any prior experience needed?

No, you don’t need prior trekking experience but having that definitely is a plus point!

How difficult is the EBC trek?

This is the most common question we get asked but as you are reading this article, you must be an enthusiast already! And that’s exactly what it requires to complete an EBC trek: a lot of enthusiasm and average level fitness. As intimidating as it sounds, the Everest Base Camp Trek is not the most difficult one. It is a moderate- level trek and can be easily completed by anyone with previous trekking experience and average fitness level.

Do I need a guide?

Although it is not mandatory to have a guide for Everest Base Camp Trek, it is highly recommended. Especially if you are someone with limited trekking experience, hiring a knowledgeable guide will help ensure your safety. They offer assistance incase of emergencies as EBC trek involves high altitudes and challenging terrain.

Can a person with a normal fitness level complete this trail?

Yes, a person with average fitness level can complete the EBC trek with proper preparation. While it is always beneficial to have a good fitness level, it is not necessary. There are all types of people coming together to experience EBC trek. It is wise to hire a professional guide or join a guided trekking group. Always remember that the experience varies from person to person. So, to get the best out of yourself, it is always advised to assess your own fitness level  and consult a healthcare professional before undertaking a trek of this nature.

What will be the accommodation arrangements?

We offer you proper accommodation in tea houses and lodges with warm and cozy bedrooms and proper meals. Usually, these places offer a double/ twin sharing room that comes with a mattress, sheet, pillow and warm blanket. Accommodation in the Khumbu region ranges from place to place. In the lower areas, there's a cozy dining area with a fireplace and attached bathroom. However, as you go higher, you can expect eastern style toilets or squat toilets. Toilets are mostly outside and you may be provided with water instead of toilet paper rolls. We recommend you to carry toiletries as per your requirement.

Also, as you move to higher elevations, it gets colder in the evening following the drop in temperature during the night. So, sleeping bags and down jackets are useful at this time. In case you don't have it, you can rent it in Kathmandu. If you prefer to stay  alone in a separate room, we can arrange it for you but you need to pay the fees accordingly. You can always reach out to us for assistance.

Will there be shower arrangements in the trek?

Please understand that the quality and availability of showers can vary from simple setups with cold water showers to more developed facilities with hot showers. You might need to pay a fee for using a hot shower at higher altitudes so we request you to be prepared accordingly.

Will there be wifi or network on the top?

In the higher altitudes, the chances of finding Wi-Fi or network connectivity decreases. In the lower sections, such as Namche Bazaar or Lukla, some tea houses offer Wi-Fi service on a fee basis. However, the reliability of these connections can be unstable. It is important to remember that  the main attraction of trekking in the Everest region is the opportunity to disconnect from the virtual world and find yourself more lively in the beauty of nature.

What if I get injured during the trek?

Your safety is our utmost priority. If you get injured during the trek, we suggest you inform our guide immediately. They will provide you with assistance and help you with aid. It is always advised to be prepared and have a basic understanding of wilderness first aid before undergoing the trek.

Amazing! 3 friends and I had the pleasure of hiking to Everest Base Camp with Parshu.
Our trip lasted 13 days, and it couldn’t have gone any better! Parshu was professional, and knowledgeable, but also relaxed and friendly, which created an experience that in my opinion cannot be matched.
The trip went super smooth, and we felt safe whole time.
Parshu is now a close friend of mine and look forward to visiting his beautiful country again!
Look no further for a guide, you’ve found the best one in the city!

EBC Baby! Experience of a Lifetime! A+++ Parshu

What an amazing 13 day trek up to Everest Base Camp. Parshu and Cami both had superstar level of customer service. We started our trek in Feb 2018 in Kathmandu, where Parshu graciously picked us all up at the airport and brought us back to our hostel. He was extremely well prepared and knowledgable about his surroundings. The multi trek was filled with amazing scenery, cold weather, surprisingly decent food, great accommodations (considering I had zero expectations), great camaraderie, tons a laughs, and even a few tears. Parshu was extremely helpful in assisting some of us in our group who were experiencing altitude sickness. Once we reached the EBC it was a quick trip down back to Lukla. After arriving in Kathmandu Parsha and his lovely wife Shoba were kind enough to introduce us and invited us to stay with his family. It was true Nepalese experience! All in all… I can’t speak highly enough about the experience. 10/10!
