Overview

On Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, where you can walk on foothills and over high green hills around southern areas of Everest in Solu villages, and then into a high scenic Khumbu valley to reach our final destination at base camp.

For people interested in quiet and tranquil areas away from the main flow of trekkers, this will be ideal for trekking to Namche Bazaar where the main trails from Lukla join on the popular route to Everest base camp.
It is truly a scenic country following an old trail on the least trekked and forgotten area of lower Everest from Jiri to Everest Base Camp visit of Rai and Sherpa villages of Solu areas and then head high towards Khumbu to reach our highlight of the adventure at Everest base camp.

Classic Everest Base Camp (Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Trail )Trek or Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek starts with an exciting long overland journey to Jiri from Kathmandu, heading east and then walking over high scenic hills with views of snow-clad peaks past Junbesi and Nunthali villages to reach Namche Bazaar. From Namche follow on most tramped trails with excellent views of beautiful landscapes of mountains and green hills to reach at scenic Thyangboche Monastery, and then leave the green tree lines for the complete wilderness of arid and barren country getting closer to Everest base camp.

Finally reach our main target at the world’s number base camp beneath Mt. Everest with glorious views of mountains, Khumbu Ice Falls, and glaciers a climb takes you to the top of Kalapathar for a stunning panorama of Everest at a close distance with an array of peaks before heading towards Lukla.

At Lukla where our outmost and marvelous adventure concludes taking a flight back to Kathmandu with a sweeping panorama of the Himalayas during air-borne on reaching Kathmandu after completing Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek with fond memories.

Day

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, received by our guide and staff for transfer to your hotel in heart of Kathmandu city around Thamel, a great interesting areas. After checking into your hotel rooms then meet our guide / leader and other members of the group for briefing regarding trekking and related information required in Nepal with Trail Himalaya.

Day 2 Free day in Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

Allowing you a day in Kathmandu with tour of Kathmandu city where our city guide will show you the wonders of past history of Nepal visiting world heritage sites of great importance and interest, afternoon at leisure preparation for Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking.

Day 3 Drive to Jiri 1,900 m - 06 hrs journey.

An interesting drive towards east of Kathmandu on Nepal-Tibet/ China Friendship highway for few hours, on reaching at Khalichaur at Bhote Kosi River, leaving the main highway as the drive leads on winding uphill road to Charikot, a nice town of Dolkha district with views of Gaurishanker and Melung tse and as far towards Langtang and Everest on east directions. From this town downhill to Tama Kosi River and climb back to reach at Jiri a nice hill town, regarded as Switzerland of Nepal, due to it beautiful location of hills and valley cooler climate and views of snow-clad peaks.

Day 4 Drive to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195m and trek to Kinja 1,770 m -06 hrs.

After overnight in Jiri, our second day starts with short exciting drive to reach a nice village at Bhandar, as drive leads past market place to reach a high ridge overlooking beautiful views of surrounding landscapes and mountains. From the ridge downhill to Shivalaya village, from here drive climb to a ridge past farm villages and terraced fields and then into a cool shade of alpine forest of rhododendron-oaks-pines trees to reach small pass of Deurali at 2, 715 meters, and then descend to Bhandar village to start our short day walks of few hours to reach at lovely village at Kinja for overnight stop, after walking on pleasant wide trail and downhill through number of farm villages.
Kinja nice moderate size village, situated in a warm valley just beneath high hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda offering views of Numbur peaks.

Day 5 Trek to Guranse 2,940 m via Sete 2,575 m near Lamjura-La pass - 06 hrs.

From Kinja, a steep uphill climb all the way to our overnight stop at Guranse past Sete village from here onwards where temperature gets cooler, after a climb to Sete walk gets better around remote areas within dense forest of tall rhododendron and pines trees where Guranse a small village located our overnight stop. Guranse means rhododendron which is Nepal’s national flower as well, a quiet and isolated place with views of high hills and snow capped peaks.

Day 6 Trek to Junbesi 2,675m via Lamjura-la 3,530m - 06 hrs.

Starting our day with cool morning walk towards Lamjura-la pass with steep climb into forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees then through many small farm lands and hamlets, after few hours of climb reaching on top Lamjura pass marked by large Buddhist monument a Stupa with few lodges around. After Lamjura-la pass a long descend through forest all the way to Sherpa village at Toctoc, and then continue walk on winding path to Junbesi with downhill walk to reach our overnight stop at Junbesi, a lovely large Sherpa village with an interesting monastery and a high school funded by Hillary Trust.

Day 7 Trek to Nunthala (Manidingma) 2,190 m - 06 hrs.

After a pleasant stop at Junbesi, morning walk leads to a winding path with glimpse of 
Mt. Everest and other snowcapped peaks, and then down towards a river to cross over the bridge, a short climb brings you at a nice Ringmo village, stopping here for lunch after a refreshing stop an hour of slow climb into forested areas to reach at Trakshindu pass of 3,070m high, which marked with mani and chortens with views of Numbur, Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks. From here downhill to Nunthala past Takshindo village and old monastery, continue descend to reach a farmland on the outskirt of the village, a short walk from the bottom of the hill brings you at big village at Nuntahla also called Manidingma, a village of Rai and Sherpa people.

Day 8 Trek to Bupsa Danda 2,250 m - 06 hrs

Air gets cooler as the route leads close to Khumbu area, on leaving Solu region, morning begins with downhill into forest to reach a bridge over Dudh Kosi River, after crossing the raging Dudh Kosi River on winding uphill to Jubing village. After Jubing an hour climb to Kharikhola at 2,200 m high, which is a large village of Sherpa and Magar tribes, after a short break heading up hill after crossing Kharikhola with steep climb for an hour to our overnight stop at Bupsa, a small village perched on a ridge with superb views of rolling hills and valleys.

Day 9 Trek to Surkhe 2,295 m - 06 hrs.


From Bupsa a slow and steady walk reaches high Khumbu area where the temperature gets cooler as the walk continues through mixed alpine forest. Walk leads over Kharte Dande pass at 3,880m high, way above Dudh Kosi River and then reaching at Puiyan (Paya) village at 2,800 m high a nice place in the midst of forest. From Puiyan after having lunch leading on a winding trail with views of Lukla town and its airstrip, then descends to Surkhe village for overnight stop in Khumbu area.

Day 10 Trek to Phakding 2,640m - 04 hrs.

Morning on pleasant trail heading close to Lukla at Choplung village where trail from Lukla and Jiri meets, from here to Phakding for overnight stop, as our walk leads past villages and farm lands with grand views of hills and valleys then finally reaching at Phakding village by the Dudh Kosi (river) for overnight stop.

Day 11 Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.


Today a long climb to reach Sherpa large village nearly a town at Namche Bazaar, starting with gradual walk following Dudh Kosi river upstream crossing few bridges to enter into Sagarmatha National Park entrance near Monjo village. (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese and Sherpa calls Chomolungma in both languages means ‘Great Mother’). From here pleasant walk on river bed leading to a climb for few hours into forested areas with views of snow capped peaks, as our walk reaches you at Namche Bazaar.

Day 12 Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

A free day and rest at Namche Bazaar important and necessary for acclimatization at this high altitude above 3,440 m high, before heading higher areas. At Namche spend your day with scenic hike around and explore the streets of Namche Bazaar with full of shops, stores and many good restaurants with bakeries. Namche holds a colorful and busy Saturday Market once a week, suggested walk to Everest View Hotel or on top Namche Hill for excellent views of Everest, Ama-Dablam and other adjoining peaks with visit its nice museum full of information of the Everest and Khumbu areas

Day 13 Trek to Thyangboche Monastery 3,867 m – 05 hrs.

From Namche walk leads on gradual and scenic winding path then on downhill to Imjatse River to reach at Phunge-Tenga for lunch, afternoon with uphill climb into tall rhododendron, pines, fir forest with grand views of snowcapped peaks. After few hours of scenic climb reaching at Thyangboche Monastery, enjoy marvelous views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Tharmarserku, Kongde with majestic Mt. Ama Dablam, afternoon time to explore Thyangboche monastery of great interest and observing young monks and priest with prayer chanting that fills this beautiful environment. Thyangboche surrounded with lovely green woods, holds an important colorful festival Mani-Rimdu every year in the month of October as per Buddhist Luna calendar.

Day 14 Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05hrs.

Morning starts with downhill walking for an hour to reach Imjatse River, crossing a bridge walking into an open country where tree lines drops for few short juniper and rhododendron bushes, then uphill for a while to reach Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Pangboche last permanent village on route Everest Base Camp, Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and continue walk with short climb to Dingboche village for overnight stop, located on scenic wide Imjatse valley with excellent views of Ama Dablam North Face with stunning Island Peak.

Day 15 Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.

After a nice and pleasant stop at Dingboche, morning walk leads to a short steep climb with excellent views of peaks, and then walking on gradual uphill trail to reach Thugla for lunch, where massive Khumbu glaciers melt into raging rivers. Here path from Pheriche and Dingboche joins on route Everest Base Camp, after a break a steep climb for an hour to Thugla pass, where you can witness stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing on Mt. Everest, Lhotse or other high mountains. From here a nice walk to Lobuche for overnight stop.

Day 16 Trek to Everest Base Camp 5364 m and return to Gorakshep 5,180 m - 06 hrs.

Today our adventure takes you at Everest Base Camp our main goal and highlight of the trip walking for few hours with short steep climb in between glacier and moraine, then reaching at Gorakshep, beneath lofty peak of Pumori and Kalapathar rocky hill. Walk continues towards Everest base camp, at base camp enjoy views of massive Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after an exciting time with experience of a lifetime retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for overnight stop.

Day 17 Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pangboche 3,900 m - 06 hrs.


Early morning climb to the top of Kalapathar rocky hill at an altitude above 5,545 m, highest point of the adventure with fantastic panorama of mountains facing Mt. Everest at close distance. After a great moment with excellent views descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk to Thugla, from here downhill to Pheriche around windy valley with nice scenic walk to reach at Pangboche village for overnight stop, which is an hour distance from Pheriche.

Day 18 Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

Walk leads on the same route from Pangboche onward to reach scenic Thyangboche Monastery, allowing you with more time on this beautiful spot for more views, from Thyangboche walk downhill to a river with uphill for an hour, and then with nice pleasant walk back to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.

Day 19 Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.

From Namche our last day walk of the adventure leads to a long descend on same route towards Sagarmatha National Park entrance to reach at Monjo village, from here on gentle gradual trail crossing bridges to reach Phakding. From Phakding on the way to Lukla with few ups and downhill with last and final climb of an hour to Lukla for last overnight stop around Everest and Khumbu region.

Day 20 Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and rest, Farewell Dinner.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, first, you will be transferred to the hotel. Now, you are free to do whatever you prefer, take rest, go for souvenir shopping, go for a short sightseeing tour, etc. Better you discuss with your guide so that he can guide you accordingly. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner program for you. We hope, during our dinner, we will have a very happy and interactive session to share your experiences, views and feedbacks.

Day 21 Final departure.

Last day in Nepal and with Trail Himalaya, with your time for international flight back to your respective countries, our staff and guide transfers you to airport after a great experience on Everest Base Camp & High Khumbu Valley Trekking.
